Take A Tour Of These Majestic Parks In Botany, NSW, 2019

Escaping from the urban jungle is no mean feat, but there are plenty of open spaces to unwind if you are in Botany. The suburb has lots of green acres perfect for chilling out, taking a lazy stroll, and enjoying yourself with your friends. When you choose to visit Botany, don't forget to explore these beautiful parks and gardens in this small town.

Gaiarine Gardens And Dog Park
The classic pop song "Who Let The Dogs Out" applies here as the Gaiarine Gardens Council considers allowing dogs to be off-leash at all hours. The history of the Garden is long and exciting, but we will come back to it in a short while. The park is safely fenced to allow dogs and children to play freely. There are some concerns about dog poop littering, but that seems to be falling into place. The place is also near to the railway lines and has a lovely overpass. It is not too crowded, and you will have plenty of options to breathe fresh air. There are shops on either side of the road, and you will have an enjoyable day.

Well, now for some history lesson. Gaiarine Gardens was developed to channel the sister city relationship between Botany and Gaiarine, Italy. The gardens opened in 1922 and since then have made a name for themselves. A plaque inside the park depicts the history of the Bersaglieri Corps, which is quite similar to the Returned Services League in Australia.

Sir Joseph Banks Park
Sir Joseph Banks Park is a popular park and nature reserve on the Botany Foreshore. The park acknowledges the role its namesake and Botany Bay played as a zoo, playground, and resort before the establishment of Sydney. The park is 28 hectares long and has been a significant attraction of the suburb since it was opened in 1985.

The park is divided into two major sections.
  1. Sir Joseph Bank Pleasure Gardens, grassland, dog park, and recreational facilities and
  2. The Foreshore Reserve, which includes six hectares of native vegetation with original dunes. The second section serves as bushland planted on reclaimed land.
The park is one of the popular attractions in the region and plays a significant role in suburb development.

You can access the park either from Fremlin Street and Tupia Street/ There is pedestrian access from Waratah road, Tupia Street, Fremlin Street, Hayden Place, The Esplanade, Hale Street, and Foreshore Road. Parking is available on Tupia street and Fremlin Street. You will also find an enclosed off-leash dog park at Hayden Palace inside Joseph Banks Park. When combined, the park neighbors Botany Golf Course is the most significant open space in Botany Bay.
